The use of a 15 year old female
model represents the age and gender of the target audience;
this will hopefully make the product more relatable and personal to the people
who I hope will buy the magazine. This is because they might be able to
visualise themselves in the place of the model.
The use of a traditional Fred Perry collared polo
shirt represents
the idea that fashion is a huge aspect of the Mod sub-culture
music scene. The
Fred Perry branding is a deliberate choice as this brand has been fashionable
both in the past, during the original time period for Mod culture - the 1960s,
and is fashionable now, having had a recent revival.
The brand’s retro roots show that it is
well-established and add a sense that the products have stood the test of time.
I chose this product as I wanted it to mirror my product; I am trying to convey
the message that some styles are timeless and that quality never goes out of
fashion.
Additionally, the
high street brand for the magazine will perhaps appeal to students because
although it is fashionable, it is not beyond their level of disposable income,
with such a top costing around £55.
